| The American Board of Urgent Care Medicine
was established in 1997, offering board certification to physicians
who practice Urgent Care/Ambulatory Medicine. Since that time, more
than 1000 physicians have become Board Certified, thus demonstrating
their excellence in the discipline of Urgent Care/Ambulatory
Medicine!
Urgent Care/Ambulatory Medicine specialists care for patients who have medical needs that arise episodically, but who do not require emergency department treatment. The specialty involves the outpatient care of male and female patients of any age, and includes the evaluation and treatment of such acutely-arising conditions as sore throat, cough, rashes, wounds, eye complaints, fever, allergy symptoms, and mild to moderate infections and injuries. While urgent care medicine doesn't necessarily include the ongoing care of chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, cancer, and heart disease, initial diagnoses of these problems are often made in the urgent care setting, with referral of the patient to a primary care physician for continuity care. Board Certification through the Testing category is now open. Information regarding Board Certification in Urgent Care Medicine is available upon request at no charge. Simply call 407-521-5789 to request information on certification. If a physician member of the AAUCM wishes to sit for the Exam for Board Certification, he/she may request an application by writing to the American Board of Urgent Care Medicine. There is a one-time, non-refundable application fee of $30 which should be included with the request.
